I mean ultimately it's the same thing which is "existing power structures benefit me and are good actually and any challenge to that must die". The latter is just the result of applying that principle to living in a rapidly dying world.
Conservative in 1800: "we don't understand society well enough to recreate it from scratch, so we should only make small changes." Conservative in 2019: "lmao I don't give a fuck if the planet is destroyed, we are making a shitload of money and I refuse to make a dollar less."

You are conflating two distinct tendencies of conservatism here. The former is traditionalist; the latter is likely capitalist libertarian or neoconservative. All three continue to exist in the present.
