Believing in the dominant ideology of your time does not automatically make you "reasonable" and "moderate". As it is, the small number of capitalists who control industry are going to destroy the planet so they can make more money. This is an unreasonable, extreme ideology.

"Centrism is extremism." And yet people quoting Orwell is somehow unjustified? Are you at least able to see why people would do that when presented with this kind of argument?
-
Orwell was a Democratic Socialist. Read Homage to Catalonia. The cure to 1984 is 1936.

We live in a time where the average American citizen lives a better, more comfortable longer life than a King lived 200 years ago.
-
Not relatively, sorry. You can't make one thing relative to make a point about another thing. All of time and space comes with your "200 years ago."

Why do the people, those suffering or likely to suffer support and vote for what's happening? Why doesn't any democracy vomit out that which would harm it's members like a stomach with something bad in it. Is it media or some sort of social vulnerability

"own workers" is a semantically loaded gift from the metaphor gods, just like "human resources." We just...hand over our lives. What choice do we really have? Well, we can vote for representation. We can require businesses pay their bills for labor.

If you are using extremism to refer to an ideology practiced by few who are on the fringes of society, then you are 100% right. We become more divided every day and centrism is on the verge of extinction. I don't think you mean it that way though...
-
I mean, I consider myself center-left if anything, but I can absolutely agree with the idea that those who have the most power in society running the planet into the ground so that they can maintain and build upon that power is pretty extreme.
