Any ideology which produces billionaires whose own workers are sleeping in their cars living paycheck to paycheck is an extremist ideology. We live in a time of extreme inequality, the centrist status quo are extremists.

And if we democratize industry the workers in many countries will value material gains over long term environmental concerns as well. Giving power to a broader group of people may be good, but trusting in the reason of crowds tends to disappoint.
-
I mean, since we're heading toward an uninhabitable planet, I'd say that the reason of elites has already shown itself to be at least as bad, if not worse than crowds. Still, even if workplace democracy wouldn't solve EVERY problem, it sure looks like a massive improvement.

This bogey of man destroying planet is somewhat exaggerated! There is no precedent.
-
There's no precedent because the technology that is causing it didn't exist until recently. Not to mention that I don't think anyone believes it's destroying the planet. The planet will still be here. It's just that life might not.

If there are billionaires is because they lack competition, and lack of competition isn't capitalism but mercantilism.
-
No, it’s definitely capitalism. There’s a tension b/t accumulation and competition, which drives accumulation. Those that have succeeed in competition do everything they can to curtail competition once they have attained market power.
