The adjective « bourgeois » could almost be used as an insult for some ppl, that’s why French do know how to spell it! :p

It's pretty common in France but it doesn't always involve a political meaning. "La bourgeoisie" isn't very used, since it's too political for some people x) It's almost only a leftist word... Sadly :(
