We also have bread lines all over the country.
Under communism they had bread lines. Under capitalism we have food stamps. And also an entire media apparatus owned by the billionaire class that demonizes the people who use them.

Communism was typified my lines to get into stores that had something worth purchasing. Starvation was due to lack of food than lack of money. It was a communist system after all. Bread lines were more common in the US prior to food stamps.

However, caloric comsumption im the URSS was very close to that of USA.
