It is their choice. In capitalism you don't own other people, unlike socialism.

Under socialism some of our smartest engineer were sorting uranium ore in labor camp, denied university access for their religion, spending two years of their productive period in military and were not allowed to leave the country. Sorry, gaming is a low price for freedom.

Under capitalism, some of our smartest intellectuals have the wrong assumption that the socialism can work the fair way. They want to "fix" the capitalism in spite of the history proving such attempts typically lead to bloodshed.

The point isn't that engineers are bad (obviously), it's that if we don't regulate the market, it will "discover" that the easiest way of making money is swindling people.
