In today's WSJ: "I am fairly conservative, but still, I was interested in the idea [of an electric car] because of pollution and climate change." That "but still" is very sad. Religious conservatives ARE nihilists. "If there's no god, everything's permitted." (Raskolnikov in Dostoevsky's Crime & Punishment) So, if there's god, nothing (= NIHIL) is permitted. Religious men are active nihilists, rationalistic people ("the last men") are the passive ones.
