I've never met any philosopher really ignorant about science, and certainly not one more ignorant than most people. And I meet a lot of philosophers.

perhaps less arrogance and more bankruptcy of curiosity and investigation due to the regimented existence under markets and private economies - imposed by media, education etc. where the only "useful" things are what result in a business or a profit and so on...

I used to think philosophy was useless, but then I realized it's just that philosophers aren't very good at making philosophy interesting (to me at least). Science fiction was my gateway drug into philosophy.
