I've had to read too much Quine to accept that. A perfect language would require universal shared understandings, and understandings are almost always based on metaphor or association. If we cannot access an objective world, how can we create an objective language?
I am on a sex strike until the postmodernists admit that an exact scientific language, where words have a unambiguously direct relationship with objects in the world, is possible – at least in principle.
