People think they are being cynical realists to point out that corporations only care about money, but nothing could be more hopelessly naïve than thinking the market operates rationally, free from ideology.

I mean fiduciary responsibility means they're legally obligated to put money first. So it seems odd people would disagree with that.

I am under the impression that this has been somewhat overstated, and that there is not a legal obligation to put profit absolutely first. I don’t mean that profit isn’t sought very hard, sometimes in ways that are harmful and could be avoided.
