There is such a thing as compartmentalization. Capitalism serves certain purposes. Socialism serves others. If we had an actual free market economy, it would be easier to delineate, but we don’t. However, plenty of nations use both systems. Socialism is for the industries that

are “too big to fail.” Military, infrastructure building, mail, the FDA, firefighting, police, libraries, museums - these are all socialist constructs. Socialism is just about what services you want your taxes to support. They’re not mutually exclusive.

I keep trying to tell people that the pursuit of money is amoral & that the driving philosophy of capitalism is profit: to produce the lowest possible quality product people will accept at the highest possible selling price. You don't want government to be run like a business.

People literally think capitalism exists to benefit society. Depending on how extreme their beliefs, all manner of societal ills may be addressed by invoking the Free Hand. "If only the government would stop getting involved, the Free Hand will work all things to good..."
