People who denounce political violence never seem to denounce it when the police beat up protestors or something. They believe in political violence, as everyone must, they just want the violence to maintain the status quo rather than disrupt it.

However, King and Gandhi showed that the most effective political violence can be letting them do it to you -- at least in a state with some degree of democracy. When the IRA began blowing up regular people instead empty Harrods stores their support went to hell.

This would be a perfectly placed tweet in China, Iran or Egypt where protesters are killed by the government, rather than western countries where you are 100x more likely to be assaulted or killed by rioters than by a police officer if you are rioting.
