But we can eliminate absolute poverty! Which is of course a nonsensical concept and the standards by which this absolute poverty is determined are defined by the capitalists and their governments, but hey ho...

You know, it's a shame we didn't set the standards for what's considered absolute poverty a few centuries earlier. Nobody in this country is living in a one-bedroom hovel bound to a feudal lord and his gang of armoured thugs, so therefore there's really no poverty at all!

Poverty is necessary for there to be exploitive and vast wealth. Wealth alone can be earned honestly, but not billionaire wealth. Capitalism makes housing and land too expensive to make most of us into wage slaves for the rich by the basic need of shelter as the driver.

But hey if we just define poverty differently then it doesn't exist, and if we say poverty is 1 dollar a day then giving someone 1.5 dollars a day ends poverty

If everyone spoke up/voted, I can't help but feel like things can change. 26 of the world's richest ppl have the same amount of wealth as the poorest 3.8 billion combined. People power requires

I would argue that an amount of wealth is possible that would not require exploitation. However making that the metric by which to measure people means people will exploit others to gain more for as little effort possible.

I would agree but within capitalism, the use of wage labor depends on the market fix of the high price of land making the workers desperate and thereby it's all exploitation if you use the labor of others and pay them "market wage rate".... see The Invention of Capitalism (book).
