When employers want you to have passion for the job, you can usually replace the word "passion" with "servility" and get closer to what they mean.

This! I often struggle with the fact that my employer and co-workers confuse my introversion with lack of engagement.

I tell young people not to go into job interviews acting like the smartest, most capable person in the world. Employers see that as a risk to them. Present yourself as someone who wants to work hard, follow orders, and not ask too many questions. Employers just want good slaves.

A past employer used to use the word passion in place of 'unpaid overtime'.

Funny how they want you to "take ownership" when that ends up meaning work over for free, do things that aren't your job, don't call in sick even when you are deathly I'll, and get paid exactly $0.00 more for the effort.
