I love these people who think society's problems would go away if everyone could just be "rational". If everyone were rational we would all kill ourselves immediately and end this failed experiment of society once and for all.

Maybe there's more problems in the afterlife, we just don't know, so killing ourselves could also be a decision based on a wild guess instead of reason

The truth is society's problems would go away if everyone could be mystical, but it's just too much work to be mystical so the next best thing is gin and tonic and try and forget about everything and all the sh*t that goes on in the world.

That which makes pure utilitarianism unworkable is the same thing that makes straight-up communism unworkable. Both are buoyed by fantasy consensus on interests & fantasy ability to forecast, delusions exploitable by badfaithers. There's a ditch on the highway's left side, too.
