I have this rubber snake that I use to scare my cat when he bullies my other cat. He clearly knows it's fake, but he's always still VERY cautious, because pretending to be a fake snake for like five years only to suddenly bite your face is just the sort of thing a snake would do.

I'm not so sure about that. They are known to train their humans into opening and closing the door several times with on a short time. So if you can train one of the smartest beings in the world you must be pretty clever.

That rubber snake kept a crazy male cardinal bird from perching on and pecking at the rearview mirrors of a friend’s pickup. Of course, there had to be 2 snakes, and everytime I forgot they were there had a fright as I reached for the door handle!
