It's pretty obvious that humanity will destroy the planet and go extinct before we figure out the mysteries of the universe. We did figure out how to make some pretty sweet video games though, so there's that.

Actually we've achieved quite a lot with basically nothing. We know roughly how the universe started & where it's heading. We can build telescopes which can detect galaxies, unimaginable far away - & we have a quite solid picture about the laws of nature in our whole universe
