I feel like the people who say the only problem with capitalism is "wealth concentration" never worked in a restaurant. Even the smallest business owners often abuse, degrade, and bully their employees, who they view as servants – because they can. Capitalism itself is unjust.

Anyone who owns a small business knows they work for the employees - everyday we have to generate enough business to keep all of us employed and the owner has all the risk

Exactly. If the business runs into the ground, it's the owner who takes the loss while the employees just have to get new jobs. Very rarely does a business do more than just break even. And if it consistently profits, it's probably time for expansion.

The biggest issue is that they don't have the capital to do so and that those who do are systemically encouraged not to because it means giving up that capital

To clarify, I know you're not a fan of religion, but such a "free association" would be like many churches, correct? People show up because they want to be there and leave whenever they please. The common folks determine leadership or at least can vote with their feet. Like that?
