Schopenhauer is useful in that he offers bias confirmation to pessimists. But he's more of a splenetic prophet of gloom rather than a systematic melancholy merchant like Kant. Kants categories and subdivisions are more saddening, though they are dressed up as reason.

Schopenhauer is a simpleton. I'm dragging myself through The World as Will and Representation desiring the concision he prides himself on. That desire is futile. My desire to read good philosophy is not. #TeamHegel
