The flaw in the argument is that if a game, even by a large &/or highly regarded company doesn't make what the customers want , they won't buy it or they won't by there next game. To say they don't "give a shit" is false, they just make safe bets.

The flaw in *that* is that no particular gamer matters to the company. Who cares if you burned a 20 year customer if you also attracted 5 new customers that bump up your quarterly numbers? Even if only 1 of them sticks with it, the company comes out ahead.

Do you not remember the 80s? I wasnt alive then, but coin ops in Arcades were how most games were made for, and they were made hard in order to extract as many quarters as possible
