Even the 99%/1% rhetoric is deceptive – it makes it seem like the rich are different only in degree. Workers make money from their labor, the wealthy make it from other people's labor.

Sure, it’s a hellish system, but how special is our labor, really? It’s not like it’s sacred or something. What else are we gonna do with our bodies while waiting to die? Also, you gotta make a living SOMEhow. A good way to do that, I’ve found, is via labor.

Your labor is literally the only thing you have to give. Whether it's physical, intellectual, or emotional, the labor of people past and present is responsible for all you will ever have. So, yeah, that's pretty damn special.

The whole thing of living a life is “labor.” Life begins and ends in labor. With no other point of reference, no other option, what makes labor so precious? It’s like saying eating and shitting is special and holy. And I don’t know, maybe it is. Maybe it is.

When I'm talking to people in meatspace about it, I tend to call them the owner class, the landed gentry, or just capitalists (as distinct from working people).

I find it really helpful when debating Republican voters to start by saying I think people need to work for their money. They are usually surprised and agree. Then I differentiate working for your money and making money with your money. From there, dont let them weasel out.

What keeps me from scraping bottom in this olympic-size pool of despair in which we flounder is the fact that it's all held together with words; it can, arguably, be deconstructed the same way. Let's keep at it! "A rebel does not require hope" - Camuspic.twitter.com/wPK0LkVDh3

Yes in a capitalist system the workers carry most of the risk, I am not sure what your point is?

The workers aren't carrying most of the risk. That would be the property owner. Hence why you believe they benefit most. It is their property and risk after all. Workers agree to work via contract.

Workers risk their livelihoods, owners risk some money temporarily. That is what it comes down to. Arguments like yours rely solely on the right to property being more important to the right to life.

"Temporary?" Do you know how many businesses fail every year?... Your argument relies on emotion and a misrepresentation of capitalism...

Again, oh noooo they lost their business, they have to get regular jobs now!!! Boohoo! It's not a risk. Period. Emotion is relevant to arguments involving billions of lives.

In German, a worker is called an “arbeitnehmer”- lit. Somone who takes work, while their boss is an “arbeitgeber”- somone who gives work. It should be the reverse.
