Banksy is a great artist for people who: 1. think the South Park guys are great intellectuals. 2. can't name a single other artist.

I can't take personal critiques from someone who doesn't acknowledge the genre has become a masturbatory, self parodying irrelevance in music.

Or he'd be just too busy talking obscure jargon that that only alienates the masses more, rather than de-alienating them, as Marxists should probably really be doing. Paul Lazarsfeld, Frankfurt School's head of social research, criticizing Adorno:pic.twitter.com/ImcnmR9UoL

Yeah but Minima Moralia is still in print and I doubt that many people are still reading Lazarsfeld.

Because there's not a whole industry involved in selling overcomplicated jargon to assure people of their intelligence.

Adorno is far from incomprehensible. In fact, he writes extensively about comprehensibility in various essays. For instance, in Minima Moralia, in a section titled "Memento." Now, that his thought demands work is another matter.

I've read a fair bit of him & the others. Please don't hit me w/ the "you gotta be smart enough to really appreciate him" bit. His work w/ Horkheimer is the best Imo, but he does engage in obscurantism, which is a problem. If you're Stanning for Adorno, well what can I say then?

Smart and work are two different categories completely. But I'll leave you to the idea that Adorno was an obscuntarist because he used Latin.

Is it Banksy's fault the art world is one where he could get so popular with his type of art?

Bansky’s dystopian theme park was pretty good...if nothing else than for its scope. Shredding art sold to a rich turd is pretty vanguard prole too. And...I can too rattle off a bunch of artists: Disney-Pixar, DC Comics, Electronic Arts, that kid drawing dicks in Superbad
