Aren't they both bad?

automation can only be considered bad because of capitalism. under a communist system, jobs aren't a necessity for personal survival, they're things which are done to sustain the community, so more automation just means less boring work to do.

Imagine owning a company or having a job that pays you enough to buy your own house and thinking "Communism is great, the State should own everything."
-
Imagine not earning nearly enough to earn your own house because of market failure. Which is increasingly the case for huge numbers in the UK.

It’s only natural to blame the concrete immediate cause staring you in the face rather than the abstract social strucure whose omnipresence creates an illusion of transparency. Use a bit more imagination to sympathize with the average worker.

No machine ever took a human being's job. But plenty of capitalists have given human jobs to machines.
