I've officiated a wedding before. At the couple's request, I said: "If anyone here can show cause why this couple should not be married... it's too late, the cake's already paid for, but you're welcome to stay and have some anyway."
Weddings are fucking wild, man. Two people, deciding to spent their lives together. And right before they do it, they open up the floor to the entire crowd. They just straight up ask, "would anyone in the audience like to ruin this wedding?"

You missed the “or never try to ruin in the future part.” If you won’t do it right there, publicly in front of everyone, than the sanctity if marriage is such that never intervene given past knowledge again. It’s a clean slate into a holy union.
