People think it is cynical to believe all politics comes down to money, but nothing could be so hopelessly naive. To think the world is so simple that all people want is a bit more cash. They aren't building a wall for cash. Ideology, not money, rules the world still.

Nobody with even a slight understanding of Marxist materialism would say that, wtf. Race and gender, as social constructs, developed from divisions of labour. They exist, like all other elements in the superstructure, as reflexes of a economic base.

No serious Marxist would argue that ideologies do not exist. But they do reflect objective economic processes and class interests. Racism in America began as a justification for an economic system, slavery, and exists today to divide the working class.

Racism exists. nobody in their right mind would deny that. But why? Because those white workers are just stupid? Most of the time, no. It’s because most racists are unable to recognize their racism for what it is, which is due to their material reality.

Didn’t even Marx right about racism?

To be clear: is that a hot take because it's an implicit criticism of Marxism indicating that as a theory it can be further revised and refined, or because self-proclaimed leftists genuinely believe it means racism is fake? Because I think the former is kind of a given.
