Symbolic logic is good for formal proofs, but sometimes when you want to convince the masses that your proof is true, you have to resort to symbolic rhetoric.

When you get a silly answer, examine the premises. A friend of ours 'proved' my formal logic that JFK's father had 2 or 3 clones of him in stowed in a freezer. Doubtless there was a flaw in his premises, though they seemed superficially plausible as he presented them.
