It also essentially ensures a return to a life of crime, though I think that's kind of the point of such laws. You've got to keep those for profit prisons full!

The main issues lie with companies just not wanting to hire people with backgrounds. Some companies are good at it, but most are strict and often won’t even give a chance if someone has one misdemeanor.

Am not trying to refute. I heard an argument that if not allowed to see crim rec, emplrs may look at proxies instead, &so discr more [1/2]

[2/2] against certain groups (due to correlation) and as a result those groups unfairly harmed. That doesn't mean bad idea. Just a tradeoff.

Yeah because I'm sure workplace misconduct wouldn't be noted when checking an applicant's references, reasons for being fired, and/or professional contacts.
