But they had to risk their already owned wealth to aquire said property! Who knows when a disaster may strike such as an earthquake or a black family moving in nearby, reducing the value of the property they worked so hard to extract value from!

Like the ancient feudal landlords risked their lives to conquer the land they then owned?

I would love to see a version of capitalism where labor was valued above rents at every level of law and policy
-
I would love to see a contradiction too.

Some (perhaps a large) portion of that goes to property taxes to the government and, if your landlord is not a slum lord, repairs and maintenance of the apartment. But yeah.
-
Generally, an very small portion goes to property taxes. Probably less than 10% of your rent. Likely even less than that.

Landlords take all the risk of...having to buy politicians to bail out landowners...um...hang on, I need to work on this a bit

More seriously this whole idea of home ownership is silly. I bought my house from the guy who bought it new in 1930. He had it for nearly 70 years. But even he had to let it go. We don't own homes, we borrow them for a while, then die. And pay a bank for the privilege.

It's almost as if the very word "landlord" reveals the feudal anachronism of the system.

Buy a house and then your landlord is the bank

At least that landlord doesn’t come in unannounced when you’re making a smoothie in your underwear. hashtag totally not personal experience
