Being "cool" is easy. It's basically just not giving a shit. Not caring about society, culture, or your family and friends. Letting your relationships wither away as you bury your feeling deep inside. Drifting aimlessly with no goals or aspirations until you die alone and unwept.

Pretty cynical look at cool. The coolest thing I ever saw was Miles Davis playing a muted trumpet solo. Collage of Patti Smith pics was a close second. Seems outside of the concept that you are describing.
