When a rich person gets billions from the government, they're lauded as entrepreneurial and self-made. When a poor person gets money from the government, just to keep a roof over their head and food on the table, they are labelled as scroungers and lazy.
The funniest part of Elon Musk fans is that they somehow thought he was going to stop global warming by selling $100k cars to rich people. The saddest part is that they thought that's why he was doing it, and him earning billions off government money was just a side effect.

Elon Musk can 'stick his submarine where it hurts. Just another PR Stunt from him. he had no concept what was required. He seems to play with toys with taxpayer money instead of delivery eg his cars

https://www.tesla.com/model3 Model 3 starts at 35K. You won't get what you want for that, but it's likely not as high as 100K either. I could buy one, but the extra cost is not justified as I hardly drive anymore. It's pushing the technology that helps with global warming.

There was no race for every company to start putting out EVs until Musk made it happen. He's doing the same with solar City. Other people are going to come along and maybe do it better, but none of them would be here without the success of Tesla first.
