Elon Musk is like the real life Tony Stark. I remember vividly in the comics how Tony Stark never actually saved anyone, but instead used every tragedy that got popular in the media to draw attention to himself, and attack journalists who didn't praise him for it.

I agree with all other parts but I think he was actually requested (directly / indirectly) to work on a solution, that's how he got involved. This https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-44779998 … mentions a random user, but I read somewhere a Thai official also made contact (indirectly via an employee).
