Can you imagine if the press had given the majority of the credit for the moon landing to the brave, visionary CEO of Lockheed Martin or whoever, for bravely hiring people to build the spaceship parts, and bravely skimming ten percent of the top for himself?

Didn’t the president get a huge amount of credit, basically playing the same role as a CEO? I don’t see the difference?

JFK gave NASA a mandate to land on the moon before the 60s were out, which they did. They also toasted some astronauts. I don’t know that JFK, LBJ, or Nixon really get “Credit” per se, seeing the first was shot, the second embarrassed by Vietnam, and the last resigned.
