to me, nihilism is a simple philosophy based on the words of the great John Lennon: "... nothing is real ..." , and i find that freeing rather than depressing.
A nihilist is just an egoist who has convinced themselves that not caring about stuff makes them better than other people.

Yeah, I like the idea of impermanence. That ultimately nothing matters, because I've never aspired to change the world, so I don't mind knowing that I CAN'T.

A nihilist can not be a somethingist but a nihilist since he/she is a nihilist. Nihil (nothing) is the antonym of something and ego is like the starting point of the whole existentialist ontology.
