I don't think the issue is binary: Trump has made a lot of mistakes and China fails to answer all the questions in the eyes of a lot of people.

The main charge against China is that they won't allow an independent inquiry, nor will they give full disclosure of events at outbreak. But by drumming up sinophobia, Trump escape blame. So then how is democratic transparency better if we still can't hold govt to account?
