Facebook changed their ads policy to allow politicians to run ads with known lies—explicitly turning the platform into a disinformation-for-profit machine. This week, we decided to see just how far it goes.

Facebook already helped elect Donald Trump once through negligence. Now, they've changed their policy so they can profit from lies to the American people. It's time to hold Mark Zuckerberg accountable—add your name if you agree:https://my.elizabethwarren.com/page/s/ew-soc-big-tech?source=soc-PET-ew-tw-facebook-20191012 …

I have disabled Facebook - can't delete it on my Galaxy. Won't use it as long as it allows blatant lies.

Where did you get that $1 million number? I think it's only $900 thousand.

Does a political advertisement need to be factual? Do you have laws for that? Facebook isn’t a country and doesn’t care
-
Our country has laws against making false/misleading advertisements in print, television, radio (and other non-online media I might be forgetting?). However, we do not yet have laws governing advertisements on the Internet or social media. That is why Facebook gets away with it.
