Same here. So we are cobbling together loans and cash - he is taking out loans, I am taking out separate loans, and working my ass off to pay the rest. BTW I should be retired, but too much debt to pay off. I hope they take parental loans into account too.

I'm turning 60 in 2 weeks, and between different "payment plans," fees, companies changing, and being forced into bankruptcy 2 times because of medical bills, I owe more than double my original loans. I graduated in the 80s and I've worked full time since.

Note that I'm a public school teacher in an urban district and I couldn't get any loan forgiveness. The system is so messed up.

I got a bachelors degree in 2005. Took 8 years to pay off student loans. Why should today's students get their debt wiped out? B/c the burden is so much more than it used to be, while starting salaries are stagnant. Thank you for putting forward another smart policy proposal.

I think one of issues is some cant get a loan due to their parents income even tho many of those parents dont have the means to pay. Second if u have one degree & must go back for another u have to get it in 2 years cause 6 years is now the maximum.
