I have sacrificed for the last 18 years to save money to put my kids through college. If you cancel debt for students you will effectively punish me for being responsible. Is that the sort of financial behavior you promote??????

Not at all, but those taking out a loan for anything should repay it as opposed to taxpayers repaying it. Sadly the Fed and the banks destroyed financial ethics a decade ago, but that doesn't means their malfeasance needs to spread further throughout our society.

Wrong I take responsibility for my actions and raised my children to do the same.

I grew up poor. I could have gone to a four year school with over half my costs being covered by scholarships. I chose not to because I KNEW that the expense was too much compared to what I would earn. I’m 20 and instead of being half way to a degree I have a job.
-
I continued to take classes while working. If you wanted to - you should still go! It's never too late. Good luck.

Do I get reimbursed for working two jobs during college in order to pay for my tuition and avoid debt or is it only for those who decided to be irresponsible?
-
I’ve got $50k in student debt despite having three jobs and GI Bill benefits. Am I irresponsible or have we just inflated the cost of education to such a degree that social mobility via education is becoming virtually impossible?
-
You're irresponsible. Thank you for your service.
-
Sarcasm is the only way to respond. But that ignorant irresponsible comment blows me away each time I hear it.pic.twitter.com/amDEdUAOkI

Are you kidding me? What alternate universe are you from? What is irresponsible about taking out loans to finance an education that can't otherwise be afforded??? You sheltered, privileged libertarians make me as sick as the alt-right. Truly unreal
-
It's the "...that can't otherwise be afforded" part that's BS.
-
If Elizabeth Warren's plan goes through, the irresponsible ones win. Retrospectively, there will be nothing Noble about working hard
-
Working hard doesn’t end. Just paying all the money you’ll make for years to get the chance to work hard ends

Financially abusing students has become its own industry.https://twitter.com/TheLoveBel0w/status/1077238537542619136 …

It's almost as if when government gets involved prices skyrocket....
-
Actually, prices rose as subsidy from State and federal govt declined. In the 80s, when tuition was $650/yr, it was subsidized at 90%. Now it's nearly 50x that, and it's because it's now subsidized at only 30%. So really, when government isn't involved, prices skyrocket.
-
Isn’t 30% of 50x$650 more than 90% of $650?
-
Isn’t it 16.6 times more?
-
What's the argument that you're trying to make here? That there are other factors involved in the price increase? Well no shit.
-
You are so right! Why does
@charlescwcooke insist on bringing data and facts to an argument? -
“Prices went up because the subsidy went down. See my figures.“ “Your figures show it didn’t go down, it went up a lot” “DUH!!!”
