Every academic who’s had funding turned down in the past is now either sobbing or ready to kill.

I can confirm this. I wasn't able to get a study on MTP and cryoprecipitate off the ground due to lack of funding and an uncomfortable IRB. So, I hope your blood can clot if you need a transfusion. But if not, rest assured, women's pain is less important than looks!
