Excited to see my final chapter published We found that odorant receptor tuning is linked to the evolution of sexual signaling in orchid bees using a combination of chemical ecology, population genetics, whole-genome resequencing, and neurophysiology

I am not excited to say that there were similar problems in the raw data of another of my papers - this paper is now retracted too. I know there might be some interest in what's going on so here is the full account of how and why I came to this decision:

I have a favor to ask. For 20+ years I've been working on a dream: to make all science funded by US taxpayers freely available to all. We are on the verge of achieving this. But we need to show that people care. So please, if you can, sign this letter:

Nice talk by on pheromones and mate choice in Heliconius butterflies. Particularly neat work on the genetics of anti-aphrodisiac produced by males that is chemically convergent on a plant compound.

Excited to see the second chapter on my dissertation online in ⁦⁩! This paper describes my biggest experiment: 6 monarch butterfly populations from around the globe reared on 6 milkweed species. Stay tuned for more from this system!

Orchid bees are master perfumers. In a study published today in researchers link the evolution of sexual signaling in orchid to a gene that’s been shaped by each species’ perfume preferences. Read more:

Great work on the role of species specific odorant receptor function in a fascinating non-model organism; the orchid bee. 💪🐝🧬🧪 Congratulations and colleagues for this work !!! 🥳🥳🥳

How does dirt shape food webs? With , we find that generalist caterpillar species narrow their diet breadth in serpentine soil plant communities, shifting the plant-herbivore network towards a more stable structure. Fave PhD chapter :-)
