People bitching about the design when google products have always been about the software user experience and an industrial design should have never even considered this. Just stick to your iphones and samsungs guys.

I don't get it either. I didn't get the Pixel for how pretty it is or isn't. It's the software and the updates for me

you can. there ll either be a setting or you can use already existing apps to "turn off" the notch or just get the non XL version.

Great software user experience is largely an objective assessment. Design is mostly subjective. Google sell devices to android purists and developers. Seems like pixels are actually catching on and everyone else is bitching about stuff that dont matter to the original demographic

It certainly won't hurt anyone if they design a more visually appealing phone..Without constructive criticism there can never be progress ,what is senseless is people defending these corporations .

Not defending them...just saying what a phone DOES is more important to me than how it looks... because it's a tool, not a fashion statement...at least for me.

They mocked Apple for not including the 3.5mm jack only to remove it from the pixels next year. Also the original line of pixels had a ridiculously iPhone like design

The original Pixel was from a unused HTC design, and built by HTC, who just so happened to be the company Apple copied its iPhone 6 design from. So really, the original Pixels had a ridiculously HTC design. Which makes sense, since it was an old HTC design.
