I had to step outside my bubble and realize damn, it’s a privilege to grow up like this in the dmv with a lot of successful black people.

Yup, people in the DMV try so hard to play the struggle olympics and their struggle doesn’t even compare to what people outside their zip code are going through

Like most of them got it better than other people

I haven’t been as privileged financially as others in this area but I will always acknowledge I definitely had it better than majority of black people in other states.

I grew up in the DMV and me and all my friends had it different. Not everyone thinks this way. I have traveled enough to know folks sometimes have it far worse. Then again I can just travel to parts of DC to see it, or rural parts of VA, and MD. But we don't talk about that.

Facts. Even if you grew up in a working class neighborhood with a single parent they likely made more than the average Black household outside the DMV. My friends from the midwest/south saw my childhood home and were like wow. It’s basic by DC standards but goals elsewhere.

Literally basic! Dmv isn’t the norm at all cause it has a concentration of wealthier black people for sure!

A lot of those folks are providing funds for multiple households within their extended family. So they know....Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
