Waitress need to stop getting mad at people not tipping, it is not our job. The government/company should provide living wages where tips are NOT needed. In Europe tipping is actually looked down on.

As a retired waitress I have to disagree! That’s literally someone waiting on you & providing hopefully a great experience. If you don’t want to tip order out & take your food home! But I’m not refilling drinks, holding convo & providing an experience 4 free. a respect thing.

Did you ever feel taken advantage of by your employer that chose not to pay you a fair wage?

You really shouldn’t. If you are in the place to pay a premium for food then you are ABSOLUTELY in the place to tip. People who pay $20 for a single meal can afford the $5 tip every single time. It’s a luxury, there are places to eat where you aren’t being served.

If you can’t afford to tip, you can’t afford to go out to eat

THIS ^ Listen, the expected tip of 20% is COMPULSORY. In your fantasy-land of waitstaff making real wages and no tipping necessary, your food costs would be WAY higher than they are. So it bears repeating: IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO TIP, YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO GO OUT TO EAT

Also, u can absolutely eat out. Just go somewhere that doesnt require someone to serve you throughout your entire meal. Purchase your food, eat it, enjoy it, and leave. No one gets hurt and u can still hv an economically responsible night out.

It’s absolutely fair to say. Going out to a sit-down restaurant to eat and then not tipping the waitstaff really is the equivalent of expecting free labor from someone — when you *know you are in a country that allows waitstaff to be paid less than minimum wage*.
