I actually remember there being protests from other students of all races outside his school. They wanted him AND his friend that knew he did it expelled and charged. His friend remained free.

Also he asked for parole two years ago and was denied. The detective that worked the case was retired at the time but made it his mission to appear at the parole hearing to remind them of how much of a monster that man is. He even questioned why he wasn’t given death.
