And we need to have that therapy discussion! Cause black women who choose to go to therapy, are criticized and looked at as crazy. People don’t see it as self care

I’ve seen way too many black women, celebrity or otherwise, vilified. Strangers claiming women have gone to therapy too long, or aren’t showing the signs that make them believe it’s “working.” We don’t know each other’s trauma, so personal opinions in this regard are harmful.

Very!!! I go to therapy and actually have encouraged my friends to as well and they have. I think we both have a really big platform and can encourage others to attend therapy and not feel bad or broken about choosing so.

I started going to therapy at the beginning of 2018 and I love the strides I’ve made! It even helped me realize that “pressure to see tremendous results” stems from essentially, constantly being “re-traumatized” due to my hypervisibility and lack of personal space online.

Yes! I actually had to switch therapists recently to work with a black woman that could better help me navigate the digital space. Healing trauma and setting necessary boundaries is hard as it is, add in the viciousness online, and it can be counterproductive to truly healing.

We need to have a virtual panel on this tbh cause black women deal with virtual hate everyday and since it’s new and unique not a lot of people will understand.
