I don't think Shambala was particularly claiming to "be" anything. I think it was claiming to be beneficial. Which I think is in the spirit of genuine Buddhism as you express it.

I agree, I was an adherent for many years, I suppose I might add. It was beneficial. And I do find there were promises made for the adherent, to which I'm referring, not claims about being a thing, such as a path for followership. It had quite soft institutionalization.
