I disagree. This idea that Buddhism is special among religions in aligning with science is exactly what I criticize in my book. I argue it rests on misunderstandings of Buddhism, science, and religion. I also argue that Buddhism is not a "mind science."

Some of us are more interested in going beyond post-modernism at this point, but there are many who will find this helpful! And cool of you to not be an asshole about it. Most critiques of Buddhist modernism I've run across come from smart yet deranged fuckers.

Oh hai interesting conversation! Ten years out from that book, I'm less sure I said it as clearly then as I would now, but the "spiritual but not religious" aren't nearly so separate from the global, messy, religious milieu as they sometimes like to think they are.
