I guess so, probably that critique is mostly present already in McMahan’s book on Buddhist modernism—which I heard about on

yea i think varela and maturana were kinda the forerunners of 4E by starting the embodied bit (from heidegger).

Another nice book I don’t hear so much about is David Abrams “The Spell of the Sensuous” from 1996 which inaugurated “ecophenomenology” and is a great read!
