do you believe there is such a thing as enlightenment? if so, are some people like Dharmakirti, Nagarjuna etc. enlightened? If they are, how can I with my unenlightened mind evaluate their claims? I'm not asking rhetorical trollish questions btw -- I'm genuinely puzzled.

Like love, there's such a thing, but it comes in many forms and is concept-dependent. We have access only to past thinkers texts, so there's no way to say beyond the enlightenment the texts may give us.

fantastic interview! tho i know next to nothing about these Buddhist topics, almost everything Dan Arnold said made delightful sense to me. but i was pining for a Husserl reference: not only does science not erase the life-world, we live science through eidos.
