Hmmm. Characterising samprajanya as “meta-awareness” seems like clickbait to me. A wholly unnecessary use of the prefix meta.

It's function of monitoring/surveying so as (among other things) to detect distraction aligns it with the concept of meta-awareness, as that concept is used in cognitive psychology.
