Yes, it does. That kind of claim is a typical Buddhist modernist one. I talk about it in the book.

I am a western Buddhist but would not consider myself a modernist. My root teacher was Trungpa who in many ways was a strong traditionalist.

Questions I’m thinking through after a long meeting w/ a Vedantin: What does Buddhist philosophy offer that’s unique? And how does the Yogācāra focus on the construction of experience, understood through the lens of their meditative practices, shape the questions they are asking?

Disbanded mainly due to lack of funds. Nothing really like it now (at least that I know of). But it was a creature of its time.

Do you touch on science (not)being loaded with value? That is different from saying science cannot validate prescriptives. Ie values rooted in our embodiment social situatedness. Imo it’s already embedded in selection and framing (background) of the questions scientists pursue
